The Essentials Clinical Resource Tool (Annual)

UTI side effect of SGLT-2i is a barrier some clients face in adhering to therapy. Encouraging client to stay hydrated while on therapy and following up with GP is a key educational piece to help clients.

Find a lot of patients are not aware of meds to hold when dehydrated. Diabetes Canada has great handout on sick day that can be reviewed with patients.

Agreed – educating the pt. that they can hold the SGLT2 if symptomatic while they wait to be seen as well may empower the pt’s confidence in initiating or continuing with the drug post treatment
