Barriers to starting an SGLT2i include side effects associated with the medication. I find women in particular, who have a history of UTI or yeast infection, are reluctant to start the medication or have sometimes had a poor experience with starting an SGLT2i in the past

RE- GU s/e with use of SGLT2i
      – I listened to Alice Cheng speak to this in 2021 or 22? and she shared that in her clinic she suggests to her clients to ‘rinse after pee’ and we have incorporated this into our clinic handout on preventing GU/mycotic infections with SGLT2i use and WOW does it ever make a difference! For women AND men! I recently had a gentleman who reported back to me that after he shared that he was getting some irritation on his penis (uncircumcised) and tried the rinse with water it made all the difference. I have a few women who do that when at home and it has allowed them to resolve sx and remain on this highly beneficial medication! so great. so rinse post void, pat dry with a clean towel and voila game changer!
