When a Client is newly diagnosed, I always assess their knowledge base prior to delving into DM management. I like to hear their own perspectives. Also, I always encourage Client(s) to bring someone with them, if possible, as a support system, but also as a second pair of eye/ears. Lastly, an interpreter is arranged if needed to ensure effective communication and transparency.
