Program Overview

Managing Diabetes in Distinct Patient Populations is one of six programs offered in the Diabetes Simplified Series. The Diabetes Simplified series aims to provide practical approaches to diabetes care that practitioners can immediately implement in their practices, based on the Diabetes Canada Clinical Practice Guidelines. 

This eLearning reviews the key considerations of managing type 2 diabetes in older adults and discusses strategies in the management of patients with type 2 diabetes who were not seen regularly during the pandemic.

Dr. Akshay Jain MD, FRCPC, FACE
 
Dr. Akshay Jain is the first Canadian physician to be triple board-certified by the American Boards in Endocrinology, Internal Medicine and Obesity Medicine. He is currently the President of the Canadian Chapter of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists. His research and clinical interests include Diabetes, Thyroid disorders including cancer, Obesity, Osteoporosis, Pituitary disorders, Adrenal dysfunction, Pregnancy-related endocrine conditions and Cholesterol treatment. 
 
Dr. Jane Ballantine
 
Dr. Jane Ballantine is a primary care physician with a special interest in Diabetes. She has been in practice long enough to be well experienced in most chronic diseases. Dr. Ballantine is a Clinical Associate Professor of Family Medicine, Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary.
